Great news Filipino travelers! Philippine passports will now be valid for 10 years from the previous five years. Yes, you read it right, 10 years Philippine passport validity!
10 YEARS PHILIPPINE PASSPORT VALIDITY
President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law on Wednesday (August 2, 2017) Republic Act 10928, amending Section 10 of RA 8239 or the Philippine Passport Act of 1996.
Republic Act No. 10928 is an act extending the validity of Philippine passports. It states that “Regular passports under this act shall be valid for a period of 10 years. Provided, however, that for individuals under 18 years of age, only a passport with five-year validity shall be issued,” the law read.
Effectivity: This law extending the validity of Philippine Passport shall take effect “15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or in national newspapers of general circulation.”
